Red Rock 2018

After we left Death Valley, we went to Red Rock State Park. There’s a small campground there, first come first served.  We were luck enough to not only get a site for two nights but to get a really nice site with a level concrete pad and good picnic table. Site number 6, folks. That’s the one you want.

I’m all about looking at rocks, so this place really worked for me. My brain kept trying to turn the erosion-patterned rocks into ancient temples or some such.

Below, Camel Rock.

Isn’t this an amazing rock? It was about the size of a bowling ball. There was another one nearly like it sitting nearby.

The colors of the rocks were spectacular! Pairing the spectacular color with the spectacular erosion patterns made for some gorgeous viewing.

For our first trip out with the Winnebago and Sophie the Traveling Cat, we thought it was good not to go too far from home. Who could tell how either of those would act? So, we went to Loafer Creek. This is a nice place, part of the Lake Oroville Recreation Area, and we’ve spent…

We had such a nice time last year that we decided to return to Bodega Bay for another camping trip. Last trip, we stayed in the Bodega Dunes Campground, which is a State of California campground. This was okay, but there aren’t a lot of sites in that one that would work for us. Is…

There’s one down by Lake Tahoe, and there’s one to the Northwest of Susanville. There may be a dozen others.  We went camping at Merrell Campground at the Eagle…

We did an early morning wildlife tour to Lamar Valley in the yellow bus below. Isn’t that the cutest thing? Tour was great. We got to watch a big, black wolf for a long time through binoculars. Too far away to get a photo but it was a lot of fun watching him strutting around…

Zion is beautiful. It’s a quieter type of beauty than Bryce. I’ve always said that the Siamese that we were owned by for many years before she left us had a personality like a brass band. Bryce has a personality like a brass band. It’s loud, gorgeous, and in your face. Zion is lovely but…
