We’re still doing short shake-down trips with the new Winnie and the traveling cat. Not sure if we’re shaking down the Winnebago or the cat, but caution is probably good with either one.
Orland Buttes is a small campground on Black Butte Lake near Orland, California. It’s run by the Army Corps of Engineers, and I think it’s a little gem. There’re only about forty campsites here; the other campground across the lake is bigger. Mid-April might be about the best time to camp here. Eveything’s beautiful and green. I imagine it’s melt-your-toenails hot in summer.
The campground’s pretty hilly, and the site I picked off the National Parks website was pretty much unworkable for us. Fortunately, the campground wasn’t full, so we were able to move to a really great site. Site 18, folks. That’s the one you want.
