We were once “upgraded” to a “higher category” cabin on a Princess ship. We’d booked an ordinary oceanview on a deck about halfway up the ship. That ordinary oceanview was unobstructed. The “upgrade” was on a higher deck, but the darn thing had a big, honkin window washer parked right outside the window. All the time! Isn’t that a hoot?

And, as if that wasn’t special enough, we were directly below the outside seating area for the buffet. Ship staff were out there at the crack of dawn every morning moving chairs around and hosing down the deck. These things were accomplished with much thumping, clanging, banging, and just about every noise imaginable other than a police siren.
