We spent nights in a really wide variety of places on this trip. They fell into the categories below, except for one location in Lincoln, NE at an event center, and the first night out at an RV park in Winnemucca.
Harvest Hosts
This was our first trip using Harvest Hosts. We enjoyed this a lot. All the people we interacted with were very nice. The farms were great. We did one boondocking night through Harvest Hosts near Salt Lake City, and the host at that location was wonderful. We were surprised that our biggest challenge with the Harvest Hosts locations was getting our fresh water tank refilled. The nice man on the boondocking night through Harvest Hosts cheerfully refilled our tank and so did the hosts at Rocky Top Acres.
Boondocking
The goal on this trip was to visit my favorite brother (only brother) and my favorite sister-in-law (ditto only) in Indiana. Those two would probably still be my favorites if I were more richly endowed with siblings.
Given that, we shot down highway 80 nearly all the way there. We don’t do long travel days, so it still took us 8 days to get there.

KOAs
I developed a deep appreciation for KOA laundry facilities on this trip! I’m never a fan of laundromats, but the facilities at the KOAs where we stayed were very good. The campsites were good, and they were mostly quiet. An except was one that was very near the train tracks. All the KOAs were clean and well-managed. The staff were all friendly and helpful.
